Sebagian saudara kita di Aceh dan Sumatera Utara, tengah diuji dengan musibah, kesedihan, dan kekurangan. Tapi tahukah bahwa ujian berupa musibah yang menimpa mereka jauh lebih menyelamatkan dibanding ujian berupa kenikmatan dan kesenangan? Tatkala kita berduka dengan bencana yang menimpa saudara-saudara kita di Aceh dan Sumatera Utara, sesungguhnya ujian terbesar tatkala kita diberikan kemudahan, kelapangan, dan kedudukan, dan semua itu tidak membuat kita ingat pada Allah Swt.
Hendaknya kita sadar bahwa hidup adalah lahan ujian, entah itu kesusahan maupun kesenangan. Harta, pangkat, jabatan, dan popularitas tidak identik dengan kemuliaan. Tidak sedikit orang yang kedudukannya meningkat, tapi kezalimannya pun meningkat. Tidak sedikit orang yang kekuasaannya meningkat, dan kejahatannya pun makin bertambah.
Momentum Arafah seharusnya mulai menyadarkan kita bahwa hidup adalah ujian. Tidak berlalu sedetik pun hidup kita, kecuali di dalamnya terdapat ujian.
Saudaraku, pulangnya kita ke Tanah Air selepas ibadah haji akan menjadi ujian berat bagi kita. Bila sebelum berhaji kita berbuat salah, orang masih memaklumi. Tapi bila setelah berhaji kita menjadi contoh buruk, berarti kita telah menghinakan apa-apa yang telah dimuliakan Allah. Kalau sepulang haji kita masih korup, dan mencuri, berarti kita telah menistakan apa-apa yang telah diangkat Allah. Kalau sepulang haji masih berzina, maka kita telah menistakan apa yang telah disucikan Allah. Kalau sepulang haji kita masih berdusta, maka kita telah mengkufuri semua yang telah dikaruniakan Allah.
Saudaraku, berkumpul di Arafah adalah saat-saat yang amat dirindukan orang beriman. Dan alhamdulillah, kita sudah mendapatkannya, maka janganlah ia disia-siakan. Kita tidak tahu apakah Allah akan mengizinkan kita kembali ke tempat ini tahun depan. Yang pasti, tempat ini akan menjadi saksi kita di akhirat kelak. Betapa orang-orang berlumur dosa seperti kita, telah dijamu oleh Allah di tempat semulia Arafah ini.
Wukuf seharusnya menjadi titik balik dalam kehidupan kita. Bila kita seorang kepala rumahtangga, maka jangan bangga memiliki keluarga. Karena keluarga adalah cobaan. Jangan bangga memiliki anak, kalau kita tidak bisa menjadi contoh yang baik bagi mereka. Wahai para suami, bertekadlah untuk menjadi ayah bertanggung jawab. Sepulangnya dari tempat ini, berusahalah agar anak-anak kita tahu siapa Tuhannya, tahu bagaimana hidup di jalan Tuhannya. Kita harus bertanggung jawab akan hari akhir mereka.
Wahai para Muslimah, bertekadlah untuk menjadi hajjah yang mabrur. Jadilah istri shalihah. Jadilah seperti Siti Khadijah, walau tubuhnya semakin tua bahkan lebih tua dari suaminya; tapi cinta Nabi kepadanya tidak akan lekang dimakan zaman, selalu dikenang kebaikannya. Begitu anggun dan mulia akhlaknya, begitu cemerlang budi pekertinya. Jangan biarkan suami jadi tergelincir, karena istri yang tidak shalihah, yang tidak menjadi sumber ketenangan di rumah.
Jadilah sosok ibu yang di sayang anak-anak. Jangan biarkan anak lebih betah dengan teman-temannya yang suka memperturutkan nafsu, karena kita tidak tahu bagaimana menjadi ibu yang baik, bagaimana mengurus dan membesarkan mereka. Tanggung jawab seorang Ibu tidak sekadar melahirkan, tapi juga membimbing anak-anak selamat dunia akhirat. Karena itu, jadilah ibu yang menjadi sumber kebanggan dan sumber keteladanan bagi suami dan anak-anaknya.
Saudaraku,ketahuilah bahwa kesuksesan kita tidak dilihat dari banyaknya pujian dari orang yang jauh dengan kita. Kesuksesan sebenarnya adalah tatkala kita mendapatkan penghargaan dan limpahan cinta yang tulus dari orang-orang yang dekat dengan kita. Apa artinya kita dipuji di masyarakat, tapi kita tidak dihargai di rumah.
Semoga pula Allah menggolongkan kita menjadi anak-anak yang selalu berbuat untuk membahagiakan orangtua kita. Bagaimana pun kita tidak akan pernah bisa membalas kebaikan mereka. Maka, jadikanlah sisa usia kita, menjadi saat yang paling bersungguh-sungguh dalam memuliakan mereka. Haji yang mabrur adalah haji yang tahu bakti dan tahu balas budi.
Terakhir, kemuliaan di sisi Allah bukan dari apa yang kita miliki, tapi dari nilai manfaat yang kita berikan kepada orang lain. Sebaik-baik manusia adalah mereka yang paling banyak manfaatnya bagi orang lain. Haji yang mabrur tidak dilihat dari seberapa banyak ia memiliki uang, tapi dari seberapa banyak uang yang telah ia nafkahkan di jalan Allah. Haji yang mabrur adalah haji yang selalu memberi manfaat bagi sebanyaknya orang.
Saudaraku, tidak ada amal yang kecil di hadapan Allah. Karena itu, selagi ada waktu, muliakanlah orang-orang di sekitar kita. Berbuat baiklah selalu; kapanpun, di manapun, dan kepada siapapun, sehingga kita puas berbuat kebaikan tatkala pulang menghadap Allah. Ingatlah, kita tidak akan pulang membawa harta yang kita miliki.
